Cnet has confirmed with Nokia Australia has confirmed that it will not release the company's 41-megapixel camera phone in Australia, focusing on Windows Phone handsets for the Australian market, instead.

"We're not bringing the PureView 808 to Australia; our smartphone focus is on Nokia with Windows Phone, which we believe is the best fit for this market. You'll see variations of PureView imaging technology delivered to several Nokia products in the future," a Nokia spokesperson told CNET Australia, reiterating a post made to the company's Facebook page late last week.

The information has upset fans of the brand in Australia, many of whom already felt left out by Nokia after the company announced that it would not update the Nokia N8 to the latest version of the Symbian platform at the same time as the update was released in other parts of the world.

The PureView 808  Made a Big store at this year's Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona, and also won  award for Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet at the show on the back of its innovative new approach to mobile image and video capture. The handset runs on Nokia's Symbian mobile operating system, though, which deviates from Nokia's current smartphone portfolio plans in Australia.

Nokia 808 PureView in the UK | end of June

Nokia's smart phone, Nokia 808 PureView with a scarily powerful 41-megapixel camera will be out in the UK by the end of June. Says crave.cnet.co.uk. There is also a video hands or a review of the Nokia 808 PureView by them, see it below.

They Say Nokia 808 PureView will be priced at £540 price tag for this Symbian-powered super snapper, but now Nokia has confirmed to CNET UK that the 808 PureView will be headed to the UK in the second quarter of this year, which means it'll be lining British shelves by the end of June.

cnet.co.uk contacted all the major UK networks to ask who'll be selling the 808 PureView when it lands. O2 has told it has "no plans" to sell the phone. Nokia today confirmed that the 808 PureView would be winging its way to "select markets" this month. Fingers crossed Brit shoppers aren't forced to wait too long.

The panorama from the Nokia 808 PureView,  is based on nine images taken with mobile phone! With the ability to keep as many pixels per frame is made very large images it is possible to zoom in on the screen.

Today, Nokia conversations announces that the Nokia 808 PureView will start to hit the shelves in May. The Nokia 808 PureView is the first smartphone to feature Nokia’s award-winning PureView technology, with a high-performance sensor, exclusive Carl Zeiss optics and amazing imaging algorithms that together create pure pixels, pure clarity, pure control. Pure genius!

The roll out will begin shortly which is in May, with Russia and India being among the first to receive this new smartphone. Cool India will be 1st to get the Nokia 808 Pureview. Additional countries will be announced in the near future.

Nokia 808 PureView receiving Best Mobile Device at Mobile World Congress 2012, the Nokia 808 PureView has also picked up the Best Imaging Innovation for 2012 from the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA).
